Through my career in education, and working with teams, volunteers, and young people in a diverse range of contexts, I’ve been privileged to help scores of people achieve their aspirations. Whether it’s getting the first adventurous experience, the right UCAS offer, taking to the air on a Flying Scholarship, or getting an Oxbridge interview success, I’ve been serving people through coaching for two decades. In 2025, I qualified as a L5 Coaching & Mentoring qualification with Mal CPD.
Through my career, volunteering and personal life, I’ve been really grateful to have worked with some fantastic thinkers. I’ve had coaching, counselling and therapy experiences, as well as working alongside some incredibly supportive line managers and colleagues. I know how vital a great conversation can be, and how much it can change your outcomes, success, and how you feel and think in a situation or role. Whether you want clarity, or to find your way, it’s essential that you find time and space to have a chat.
But what could coaching do for you?
What is coaching?
Coaching is partnership between you and your coach, in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires you to maximize personal and professional potential. It is designed to facilitate the identification, creation and development of personal, professional or business goals and to develop and carry out a strategy/plan for achieving those goals.
Why is coaching helpful?
Life is busy, complicated and there’s a lot of difficult tensions to resolve.
Quite often, we have lots of tasks and actions to accomplish, and that tends to leave little time or space to think, reflect and understand what solutions we know will work. And so, it feels complex, and perhaps like there are challenges that can’t be overcome. You might feel stuck, blocked, or confused.
But I believe that you have the ability to bring clarity to all of the issues you face. You have huge amounts of information, experience and knowledge that you bring to the conversation.
Coaching provides a deliberate time and space where you have a neutral and independent sounding board, to talk through the challenges and things you want to explore, and be guided towards clearer decision making. With help from me, you can be supported to find all of the answers that you need, and have clarity and thinking time, to improve your wellbeing as well as your goals.
How will we work together?
Our coaching sessions will take place on Zoom, ideally once a fortnight. We’ll set aside 45-60 minutes at a time, and initially start with six sessions to identify the first set of objectives and goals that we can try to find clarity with.
We’ll start by establishing the basis for our coaching relationship and explore the ground rules and areas we want to cover. As part of the coaching agreement, you’ll have the opportunity to share any information that helps me to help you better. For a good coaching partnership and experience, it’s important that we share values and ways of thinking, and so this first session is a chance for you to be confident that we can work together. Your wellbeing is vital to me: and I’m committed to ensuring that you have a positive experience. If that means working with someone else, I’d rather that you found a good fit. It has to be right for you.
Then, over the course of the sessions, we’ll have a look at some tools and reflections that will help you identify the key areas you want to work on, and how we can put strategies in place to succeed. I’ll try to set you activities and exercises that help work between the sessions, and demonstrate and evidence the progress that you’re making. At the end of the six sessions, we’ll reflect together on what we’ve achieved, and where you feel you bring further clarity to.
